Patanjali Yoga teachers' training camp begins in Udalguri

UDALGURI, July 21: The nine-day long residential yoga teachers’ training camp began here at Udalguri Girls’ HS School.

The programme begun with lighting of the lamp by Bijay Barman, noted social worker of Udalguri.  Tarapati Upadhyaya, Sahitya Akademi award winning writer and educationist, formally iugurated the yoga camp. Upadhyaya  elaborated the ancient legacy of Yogic tradition in India and the present aspects of yoga. The opening ceremony was presided over by Puspadhar Sarmah, the founder president of Udalguri district committee Patanjali Yoga Samiti and conducted by Baidyath Upadhyaya, the general secretary of the reception committee of yoga teachers’ training camp.

Bikram Sing Basumatari, the former president of Udalguri Town Committee and youth leader, emphasized on the importance of yoga in day-to-day life in the present society. Pray Basumatari, noted entrepreneur of Udalguri, Dr. Luke Daimari, Principal of Udalguri College, Kamalakanta Sarmah, Principal of Udalguri Girls’ HS School, Kulen Bora, president of Udalguri district Patanjali Yoga Samiti and rayan Khatiwada, the Mandal Prabhari of Patanjali Yoga Samiti, Assam, also addressed the trainees on the occasion.

Mohan Sing, an official of 159 field regiment, expressed his satisfaction over the yoga camp and said that the Army camp too organized regular yoga camps. Santiram Sarma apprised the trainees about the rules and regulations of the yoga camp and asked the trainees to abide by the strict rules for their own ascension. The camp will continue till July 28 and yoga resource persons from across the State will train the 100 yoga teacher aspirants who will be trained in Haridwar later on.
