Pathetic road condition irk commuters

A Correspondent

Silchar, Dec 12: Problems of precarious condition of road is not alien to the residents of Barak Valley. People residing in rural areas have to face a lot of problems owing to the bad road condition. Lakhipur Ramgar Amjurghat (LRA) road, which is 20 kms in length, from Dilkush to Amjurghat, which passes through Binkandie Tea Nutan Ramgar, is in bad shape. The road is full of potholes as a result of which commuters find it difficult to use it.

It should be mentioned here that the people of that area have requested the state government to look into the matter and even PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya has visited the place in the month of August. Unfortutely, no action has been taken in this regard. They have again the government and the authorities concerned to repair the road before the start of rainy season. The problem seems to pose as a bigger threat since Matriculation examition is fast approaching and students have to take this route only as there is no other altertive road.

In addition to this, the draige facility of that area, Binkandie Ghat point, is very poor and as such people have to walk over dirty and flighty drain water even during festivals and other occasions. This has been affecting their health and hygiene. Though one side of the footpath has been completed, the other side is yet to be done due a handful of people who are unwilling to vacate their place. MLA Rajdeep Goala has been informed about the matter. They have requested the MLA to take necessary action in this regard. They are living with this hope that the Public Works Department would start the work very soon.
