SILCHAR, July 18: Bad road conditions are causing a lot of troubles for the residents of this town. Owing to heavy rainfall for the past few days, the condition of the roads has worsened. The potholes on the road have been filled with water. A few hours of rain submerges road of the town. It is unfortute that it has become a regular phenomenon and the authorities concerned do not pay any heed to it. Many areas of the town are submerged under knee-deep water. A number of lane and by-lanes gets under water even if it rains for a few hours. People have been struggling with this problem for long but it seems there lies no solution to this problem.

The residents of Link Road, Chengcoorie, College Road, Soi and Das Colony areas have been facing the problem of poor and deplorable road conditions. It is quite surprising to note that the situation has not changed yet even after repeated protests, strikes and demonstrations. To avoid agitations, residents have been repeatedly appealing to the authorities concerned. With the formation of the BJP government, people have high expectations. It seems that changes in the poor conditions of the road are still a far cry. Vehicle riders and pedestrians have to move across the town. Muddy and slippery streets have made it difficult for people to walk and drive freely.

Owing to pitiful condition of the road, students, commuters, patients and employees have to face hardship in reaching their destitions. Many parts of the streets of this town are dotted with potholes and are bumpy. A number of auto drivers and motorcycle riders have met with accidents due to the cobbled roads. Bikers usually loose control when they encounter these potholes. Lack of planning on the part of both Silchar Municipal Board and Town and Country Planning department has added to the woes of the people and invited their wrath.

In the fil alysis, it can be said that if necessary steps are not taken by the authorities concerned, the residents will have to continue using such roads. People should raise their voice in unison for remedial action.
