Pay an additional fee for spending more than three hours in Taj Mahal!

Agra: Taj Mahal, one of the iconic man-made wonders of the world, has always been marveled at for its innumerable beauty. Spectators coming from all over the world make sure that they give a visit to this iconic beauty at least once in their lifetime. But unfortunately, spending hours in Taj Mahal will not be so easy for the visitors from now on as there will be an additional charge on the tourists who remains inside the premise for more than 3 hours.

As stated by a public circular, the tourists will be allowed to stay inside the Taj Mahal premise for a duration of 3 hours and exceeding this time limit will make one eligible to pay an additional fee. As stated by the authority, this move taken by them will prevent tourists from making an unauthorized entry. In addition to this, the authority has also added turnstile gates at the historical monument.

Archaeological Survey of India’s superintendent Basant Kumar states, "7 turnstile gates have been installed at both the East and West entry point. Five gates are for the exit. For the entry of foreign tourists, there are separate gates. Entry is only through token which is valid for three hours, exceeding which, a visitor is required to recharge it at the counter at the exit gates."

Before this, the visitors of the monument were allowed to stay for an unlimited duration that ranges from opening the Taj Mahal gates to closing it. Notably, the gates into the Taj Mahal are opened 30 minutes before sunrise and closes 30 minutes before sunset.

The latest move by the authority has rather upset the tourists. One of the tourists visiting the historical monument says, "A person comes here for relaxation and to spend some time. If the sightseeing is limited to three hours and the charges are so much then anyone will think twice before coming here."
