PCDR election steering office burnt down in Halang Bazar

KOKRAJHAR, April 4: An election steering office of the People’s Coordition of Democratic Rights (PCDR) located at Halang Bazar under Patgaon police out post was set on fire on Friday night by suspected opposition activists.

The supporters of PCDR on Saturday demanded arrest of the miscreants involved in the burning of the election steering office. The steering office was set up for the PCDR candidate of Bargaon constituency, Rabiram rzary who is also the president of the BPPF.

Bargaon candidate backed by the PCDR Rabiram rzary who arrived on the spot alleged that the PCDR office was burnt by BPF workers. He said it was part of political vandalism of BPF which was backing Rajib Brahma from Bargaon. He said the burning of the election office by BPF was an act of frustration and it was just to create terror among the voters. He also said such undemocratic acts were nothing but murder of democracy.

Police sources said that five BPF workers who were allegedly involved in the incident had been arrested. The PCDR lodged an FIR against the burning down of the election steering office. To ease the tension in the area, police forces and other additiol forces have been deployed.
