PCDR to contest in 40 BTC constituencies

KOKRAJHAR, January 31: People’s Co–ordition for Democratic Rights (PCDR) will contest from 40 constituencies of BTC in the forthcoming elections to be held in the last part of March or first week of February. The PCDR with 13 organizations has prepared to field independent candidates in all 40 constituencies.

Addresing a press conference held at Kokrajhar Press Club on Saturday, Rwngwra rzary, chief co–coorditor of People’s Coordition for Democratic Rights (PCDR) said that during the last 10 years rule of the Hagrama Mohilary–led Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), there was misrule that resulted in social unrest and economic recession. The people of BTC were ready for change and PCDR was the only altertive to bring change in BTC, he said. Therefore, he called upon all to extend support to PCDR.

rzary said that the PCDR would field candidates in all the 40 constituencies of the BTC with the support of various member organizations including the BPPF, UDPF, AGSU, PJACBM, AABYF, BTC th Yogi Sanmiloni, United Minority Council, All BTC Anusuchit Jati Parishad, Barman Kachari Students Union, All Assam Bengali Jatia Parichad and United Tribal Youth Federation of Assam. Challenging BPF chief Hagrama Mahilary, rzary said that they were confident to defeat him in the forthcoming BTC polls and said that PCDR would form the next government in BTC.

BPPF president Rabi Ram rzary, while supporting the PCDR, said that the misrule, failure and lavish lifestyle of the BPF leaders, also the riots that took place during the last 10 years would help them defeat the BPF in the BTC polls.

All BTC Anusuchit Jatia Parisad president Satyaban Mandal said that the BPF had done nothing for the uplift and development of the other backward classes in the last 10 years and so they were going to support the PCDR.
