PCPD welcomes Anup Cheia's extradition

SIVASAGAR, Nov 12: People’s Council for Peace & Development, Assam (PCPD) has welcomed the handing over of ULFA general secretary Anup Chetia to India by Bangladesh saying it would give boost to the peace talks between the Centre and pro-talk ULFA. In a press release, the central committee of PCPD expressed hope that Anup Chetia would expedite the peace process. Thanking Prime Minister rendra Modi for his commitment and active involvement in bringing Chetia back to India, PCPD stated that they had been demanding the Central Government for Anup Chetia’s extradition from Bangladesh for fruitful discussion between the government and pro-talk ULFA to reach a permanent solution in the political dispute of India-Assam.  Chetia, who was arrested in Bangladesh in 1997 for illegally entering that country with forged documents.
