KOKRAJHAR, Dec 6: The People’s Democratic Council of Karbilongri (PDCK) on Tuesday expressed its resentment over the statement of Abhijeet Asom, chairman of ULFA (I) on November 24 in local newspapers and some TV channels.

In a press statement, the general secretary of the PDCK, Nongme Tungjang said the press release was full of baseless and motivated charges and insinuations leveled against the newly-formed PDCK.  He said Abhijeet’s comments had made them surprised. He said Asom claimed that the PDCK was a carbon copy of ‘artificial’ galim.

“On what political basis did he make such a comment, which is going to obviously prove detrimental to our future relations? We would like to enlighten Abhijeet about the truth that he does not have the moral and political right to raise questions on the formation of PDCK,” Nongme said, adding that the formation of PDCK was not for creating Karbilim.

He alleged that Abhijeet was a distorted copy of India. “He is dreaming of assimilating all the indigenous people of Assam to create Asomlim, in the same manner India is striving to colonize and assimilate the communities of WESEA region. He always preached to us and advocated the unity of all the revolutiory parties of WESEA to fight against our common enemy, India. But his actions do not match his words. For unknown reasons, he is now trying to nip PDCK in the bud,” said Nongme.

He further said, “We would like to remind Abhijeet about Karbi and ULFA relations in the past. After Operation All Clear in Bhutan in 2003, the condition of ULFA was like that of a fatally wounded person standing at death’s door.” Longme said in those days, Karbi Longri and NC Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF) and the Karbi people had provided everything they had to revive the ULFA. He also said the present deputy fince secretary of ULFA (I), Major Noyon Medhi knew this very well. “PDCK is therefore keeping its door wide open for Abhijeet for diplomatic discussions if he feels necessary,” added Nongme.
