PDF nomites Nongsiej's me to represent coalition

SHILLONG, Nov 18: The ruling People Democratic Forum (PDF) in a meeting held today has nomited the me of L G Nongsiej, Nongstoin HSPDP MDC to represent the coalition for the post of Chairperson in Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC). The election for the post will be held on November 19.

The special session of the council is set to sit on November 19, after the registration of Chairman Manstudy Nongrem and Deputy Chairman Donevan Kharwanlang.

HSPDP member Nongsiej who now has decided to be an independent had extended support to the PDF led by KHADC CEM PN Syiem.

Earlier on Friday, the meeting of the ruling PDF in the KHADC proposed the me of Nongsiej to be its candidate. He filed his nomition whereas as Congress has not fielded any candidate. The time fixed for filing for nomition was till 12 pm on Friday. Speaking to reporters after the PDF meeting, KHADC CEM Syiem said, “For the election of Chairman, the proposers are Latiplang Kharkongor and James Ban Basaiawmoit. The seconders are Victor Rani and Donkupar Sumer.” “The decision was taken in consultation with the MDCs during the PDF meeting,” he added.
