PDF slams UDP chief Donkupar Roy

SHILLONG, Oct 20: The Mawryngkneng Zol Committee of Peoples’ Democratic Front (PDF) has slammed the United Democratic Party (UDP) president Dr Donkupar Roy for his statement that the PDF is a party of deserters.

“The statement made by UDP president against our party has no value at all,” PDF’s Mawyrngkneng committee general secretary EK Wahlang said on Friday.

He said the UDP came to power in Meghalaya in 1988 and again in 2008, however the UDP-led government collapsed after one year because many of its MLAs deserted the party.

“It is an irony that even as the PDF is a new party, UDP leader Dr Donkupar has dubbed us that we are a party of deserters,” he said, adding that the people should know who are deserters and who had formed the government with the Congress when UDP vice-president Bindo M Lanong was then Deputy Chief Minister of the State.
