PDP is being used by BJP: KHM

FROM A REPORTER
SHILLONG, June 18: The working president of Khun Hynniewtrep tiol Awakening Movement (KHM) Adelbert Nongrum has alleged that the newly floated regiol party in Meghalaya the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) is being used by the Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP).
Speaking to ‘The Sentinel’ on Sunday, Nongrum said, “There is a play behind the Village Administration Bill (VAB) because the Indian government has no right to examine our traditiol customs as they know nothing about it.”
“We had passed the VAB earlier but it was turned into a duplicate VAB and we had hoped that later amendments will be brought into the bill but there was an observation from the central government that it comes into conflict with the fundamental rights,” Nongrum said.
When asked if any regiol party has approached the party for pre-poll alliance ahead of 2018 elections, Nongrum said that no party has approached them so far.
“We had earlier expresse our readiness to form an alliance with any regiol party for the sake of the indigenous people of the state in which there is no BJP or Congress but there was no response,” he said.
The KHM leaders further informed that the party is looking to field 36 candidates in different constituency for the upcoming 2018 polls.
Informing that in the upcoming KHADC session scheduled to kick start on June 20, the party will be raising three issues in the house, he said, “140 trading illegal licence have been issued by the PDF without proper documents and I will bring this into the notice of the house even if I’m also part of the PDF and I will demand from the house to scrap the entire license issued.”
