Peace and unity among different tribal communities underscored

Donkamokam, March 26: “We have many grievances and problems but there is also solution and the problems and grievances can be solved when we work unitedly,” KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang said while attending as chief guest at 28th All Assam Garo Union (AAGU) annual general conference held at Satgaon in West Karbi Anglong on Sunday.
The CEM in the meeting also said that Garos were peace-loving people who could live peacefully and mix with every tribe and race.
“Karbi Anglong district is a cosmopolitan district where almost all tribal people present in the Northeast India live, and for the greater interest of all, let us live peacefully and unitedly,” the CEM said. 
MLA Dr Numol Momin, while attending as guest of honour, urged the Garo families to focus on the education of their children. “The Garos in Assam have a population of a little over seven lakhs scattered all over the State. But we are educatiolly not at a good level due to which we face many problems,” MLA Momin said.  He also said that Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal was aware of the problems faced by Garos. 
He appreciated the effort made by the Garo people of Rangsapara in making it the cleanest village in Assam. MLA Dr Momin filly assured of constructing Garo Bhavan in Guwahati.
The AAGU leaders also submitted a memorandum to the CEM demanding Garo Modern Indian Language (Mil) in LP, ME and High Schools in Garo-student domited areas, political post reservation, and  appointment in the LP schools having single teachers, among others. Presided over by AAGU president Modhuth Ch Marak, the meeting was also attended by Dr Mansing Rongpi, MLA, MAC, Horensing Bey, KAGU president Louis Marak, Chandra Sangma Social Worker and others.
Earlier on March 24 evening, Dr Mansing Rongpi MLA iugurated the 28th AAGU conference. Over 300 delegates from different districts of Assam attended the programme.
