From a Correspondent

GAON (HAIBORGAON), May 16: Krishak Sramik Unyan Parishad of Assam has alleged that keeping the gaon Deputy Commissioner in the dark, the Persol Assistant (PA) to the Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Sum along with a gang of land mafia had purchased agricultural land at a low price and doing so, he and his gang destroyed the base of economy of the farmers. In this connection, the farmers’ organization even approached the Deputy Commissioner of gaon and demanded legal action against the Rajesh Sum. A memorandum was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner on May 12.

In the memorandum signed by the president, Pradip Kalita, the organization alleged that Rajesh Sum led the gang of land mafia in the district and entrapped the poor farmers and instigated them to sell their agricultural land by offering various false promises. While the first deed agreement was to be accomplished, Sum and his allied gang threatened them by various ways for which many such farmers at last gave up their expectation to get their dues from him as well as his gang.

Asking and demanding legal action against the land mafias of the district, Krishak Sramik Unyan Parishad of Assam submitted the same memorandum to the Governor of Assam, Chief Secretary of Assam and Commissioner of Land and Revenue, Government of Assam. The organization appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of gaon as well as other higher authorities of the State to take adequate measures against the land mafia.
