Pedro says De Gea's sex scandal claims not to affect Spain's decision

Saint-Martin-de-Re (France), June 11 : Spanish forward Pedro Rodriguez expressed confidence that the current controversy over the alleged involvement of goalkeeper David de Gea in a sexual assault case will not affect the decision of chief coach Vicente del Bosque regarding the competitions of Euro football championship.

When asked about the effects of such allegations on the technical decision of the Spanish coach who may opt to replace De Gea with goalkeeper Iker Casillas, the Chelsea forward explained that he does not think this case will affect any technical decision on De Gea's participation in the European tourment, reports Efe.

Pedro pointed out that the news about this case will have no impact on the team in the Euro, as they, including De Gea, trained very well and are focused to win the opener against Czech Republic on Monday.

Pedro added that De Gea is "quiet" and supported by his team-mates.

De Gea rejected on Friday a story in the Spanish press connecting him to an alleged sexual assault.

El Diario newspaper said the Manchester United star was identified by a witness in a police report as the person who arranged and paid for a 2012 sexual encounter in Madrid involving a pair of prostitutes and two members of Spain's Under-21 squad. IANS
