Pelty imposed on two gas agencies

FROM A CORRESPONDENT
SHILLONG, Jan 31: The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has imposed a pelty on two gas agencies in Jowai town.
The pelty was imposed after West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Arun Kumar Khembhavi had requested the Indian Oil Corporation to initiate action against the errant agencies.
According to Khembhavi, the two gas agencies in Jowai town viz M/s Ripr Gas Agency and M/s Rymbai Gas Agency were directed to start home delivery from January 1, 2017 after meeting with petroleum company officials.
In December 2016, they had said that they had placed orders for small sized vehicles for home delivery as discussed in the meeting with the petroleum company officials.
“It is already the month end now and unfortutely they have not adhered to their promise and commitment made to the District Administration and to the people of West Jaintia Hills,” the DC said.
He pointed out that this is a classic example of how two established players abuse their domint market position and take the consumers for a ride.
Meanwhile, IOC has initiated pelty under LPG Marketing Discipline Guidelines (MDG) - 2015.
M/s Ripr Gas Agency was pelized Rs 25000 and M/s Rymbai Gas agebcy was slapped with a fine of Rs 54000 which is 20 percent of the average monthly agency commission.
