Pelty on 2 officials

From our correspondent

Itagar, March 2: The Aruchal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC), under the provision of the RTI Act, has imposed pelty of Rs 25,000 on ADC (Dirang) Dagbom Riba for “refusing to furnish complete information” pertaining to disbursement of compensation of Rs 4,72,72,123 on community land measuring 27.55 acres that has been acquired by the Indian Army from DC, Bomdila at Lish village.

The information was sought by appellants Phurpa Tsering, Dorjee Thinley and Rinchin Dondup of Sapper camp (under Lish), Dirang from DLRSO Mikyi Boje, but he could not furnish the same as the ADC Dirang was the custodian of the information.

Taking cognizance of the statement of DLRSO Bomdila, the Commission had on February 16 issued an ‘order’ asking the ADC Dirang to appear before it along with the remaining information pertaining to the disbursement of land compensation. But he deliberately defied the order of the Commission and refused to furnish remaining information which led to invocation of section 20 (1) of RTI Act 2005, it said.

The APIC also imposed a pelty of Rs 25,000 on Executive Engineer, PWD, Yingkiong R N Singh for refusing to furnish complete information on schemes implemented within his Division which was sought by RTI applicant Kaban Jonkey. The EE has been directed to furnish the remaining information within 15 days and appear before the Commission on April 2.
