Pending salary & arrear of SSA teachers released

SHILLONG, June 4: The SSA-SEMAM has released the pending salary and arrear of SSA teachers in the state for LP and UP teachers for the month of March and April 2017 and arrear enhanced salary for LP and UP teachers from April 1-30 June 2016.

In order to disburse the salary and arrear of around 12481 Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers in the state, the SSA teachers union in the state, Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) Central Body on June 2 and met Ambrose Ch. Marak State Project Director of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan State Education Mission Authority Meghalaya (SSA-SEMAM) at the city.

The salary of SSA teachers have been pending for the last three months, March, April and May 2017 and the arrear of the enhanced salary of fincial year 2016-17 as per notification issued by SEMAM on October 31 last year and MHRD - PAB 2016 have been pending for one year, from 1st April 2016 to 31st March 2017.

Aristotle C. Rymbai, president Meghalaya SSA Schools Association, Central Body said the State Project Director (SPD) of SSA-SEMAM inform, that three months arrear salary at the enhanced rate for the period from 1st April to 30th June 2016 including enhanced salary for the month of March and April, 2017 is released to the account of all the District Mission Coorditors’ (DMCs) concerned on June 1 and by next week it will be disburse to all the SSA teachers.

In this connection, Rymbai also expressed gratitude to the MUA-II government, the education department and its officers  especially Principal Secretary D.P.Wahlang who is also the State Mission Director (SMD) of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan State Implementation Society SEMAM and Ambrose Ch.Marak State Project Director SSA-SEMAM which has fulfilled the demands of the union especially the relaxation of the fixed remuneration (pay) to the untrained SSA teachers for the fincial year 2017-18 which will be effective from 1st April, 2017 as discussed earlier with the official of the union. At the meantime Rymbai requested all the SSA teachers to cooperate with the union and the office of the SPD for a while related the matter of the remaining arrear.

The move of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan State Education Mission Authority Meghalaya (SSA-SEMAM) comes following the protest made by the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers under the banner of Meghalaya SSA Schools Association at the city on April 12 this year where around 7000 teachers took part on the mass rally.

Further, Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) Central Body President Aristotle C. Rymbai said, SPD inform salary for the month of March 2017 will be as approved by MHRD Project Approval Board (PAB) 2016-17 and order issued by SEMAM on October 31, 2016 under two categories of Rs. 19044 for trained teachers and Rs. 13335 for untrained teachers for Lower Primary and Rs. 20493 for trained teachers and Rs. 14392 for untrained teachers for Upper Primary.
