Pension to 16 lakh elders

GUWAHATI, May 21: Call it respect to elders and betters or otherwise, the Assam government is going to release pension at Rs 250 per month to as many as 16 lakh senior citizens of the State. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has directed the State P&RD Department officials to expedite the process after reviewing schemes of the department in the presence of minister Naba Kumar Doley. The government is going to provide pension to all citizens who are 60 years and above, regardless of being APL or BPL category.
