People can prevent river fury by following traditiol customs'

JORHAT, March 21:  A tiol semir on the topic Harnessing Science for Societal Development was held at M.C.Das memorial auditorium in Assam Agricultural University (AAU) here today.

Iugural session was started with the presidential address of Dr. J. Deka. The discussion was iugurated by Gandhian environmentalist, Ramon Magsaysay Award  winner, Padma Bhushan C.P.Bhatt,  which was followed by a speech delivered by Dr. A Bhagawati, president of Assam Science Society.

Appraising the role of AAU in developing scientific temperament, Dr Bhagawati pointed out that scientific development should empathetically viewed with mass of clients for whom it is being developed.

It was followed the speech of C.P Bhatt who spoke on "Chipko Experience" which denotes that Himalaya is in danger. Mentioning that the river controls races, Bhatt said that people can escape harshness of river by following traditiol customs.  AAU Vice Chancellor Dr. K M Bujarbaruah in his speech said that the public fund in research must yield public goods in terms of deliverable technologies for the benefit of the society, environment as well as science itself.
