People clash with police following road mishap

Golaghat, May 21: On Sunday afternoon, a speeding Indica car bearing registration no. AS 03H - 3956 hit Pulin Tamuli who was riding a cycle. The impact of the collision was such that Pulin’s body was dragged three-and-half kilometer from the accident spot.

Soon local people with the help of the police chased the speeding Indica car and at last caught the car driver along with a passenger. In the accident, Pulin Tamuli was severely injured.  But after sometime local people found that the arrested persons were not in the police station. Then the people raised allegations against the IC of Khumtai Police Outpost, NN Gogoi of taking bribe and saving the persons involved in the accident. The situation became tense as local people had a clash with the police. Senior police officials along with paramilitary forces rushed to the spot and tried to control the situation. Additiol SP, Golaghat, assured the people to conduct an enquiry into the allegations against NN Gogoi.
