People complain against exorbitant bus fares

From our Correspondent
BILASIPARA, March 19: Strong resentment prevails among the people of Sapatgram and yahat in Dhubri district who travel in this route due to excess bus fare being charged from passengers in violation of the rate fixed by the government. The government-approved rate from Sapatgram to yahat is Rs 13 for 17 km. But the conductors of passenger buses are allegedly collecting Rs.20 while the four wheelers are charging Rs. 25 per passenger. In protest against this, a public petition was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, Dhubri with copy to the DTO, Dhubri and   SDO (Civil), Bilasipara. However, no action has allegedly been taken as yet by any authority.
