People flock market places ahead of Rongali Bihu

Dibrugarh, April 11: The fervour of fast-approaching Bohag Bihu has gripped the attention of the people here. With one of the most important festivals of the State being just a wink away, the public can be seen flocking the market places of the town. As this Bihu, also known as Rongali Bihu, ushers in the Assamese New Year, the people here were seen buying many things – new clothes being the most prominent. Moreover, in keeping with the spirit of Bohag Bihu, few dance workshops were also organized. These workshops provided training on Bihu dance, and hence, served as a good platform for the budding Bihu dancers to hone their skills and be ready to perform in the forthcoming Bihu sanmilans.

The famous New Market and the shopping malls of the town have come to life with elaborate decorations and vibrant lights in order to welcome the spring festival. In the last couple of years, several malls have come up here.
