People of Kushbari pin hopes on God

From our Correspondent
BONGAIGAON, June 21:  Being helpless, the people of Kushbari village on Wednesday prayed to god to save their village from erosion of Mah River.
Anowar Ali, a local person, said that they were spending sleepless nights due to fear of erosion. “Mah River is flowing very near our village. If one metre more is eroded then the river will enter our village. We have informed our local MLA Anta Malo several times in this regard and appealed to him to construct a dam so that erosion can be stopped. But he never paid any attention and no dam has been constructed yet. Before election BJP also promised that all such dams in Assam will be constructed in those areas where there is erosion threat. But nothing happened. We have no other help other than god. Hence we arranged for mass prayer on the bank of Mah River so that god saves us from erosion,” he said.
