Tezpur, Nov 20: People of Rangapara in Sonitpur district are facing inconvenience due to the lack of 108 ambulance service since the last three months. The 108 ambulance bearing registration number AS-01- BC-4554 was lying in one of the motor garages in Tezpur since August 11 and later, the authority concerned had the ambulance taken to Guwahati and till today, no further arrangement has been made to mitigate the problems of the people.
Local people alleged, “We are suffering due to lack of ambulance service. When the authority concerned was asked about re-operating the free ambulance service in Rangapara, we were informed that the service will be re-started very soon by October 26. But this did not happen. We have received information that free 108 ambulance service is available in Tezpur, Thelamara, Garubandha, Jamuguri, Dhalaibil and Dhekiajuli  in Sonitpur district and on the other hand, this service is not available at Rangapara, Ghoramari and Bihguri. People of the greater Assam-Aruchal border area, including Balipara, Chariduar and Ghoramari areas, are facing a lot of inconvenience due to non-availability of ambulance service.”
