People participate enthusiastically in yoga camps across Tezpur

Tezpur, June 21: The Intertiol Yoga Day was observed in Tezpur in various places on Tuesday.

The 5 Assam Battalion of NCC under the aegis of Group Headquarters, Tezpur conducted the day at around 30 centres spread over four districts of Assam with the participation of over 1,500 cadets. The Tezpur centre witnessed Brigadier RS Jodha, the Tezpur Group Commander releasing two doves as a symbol of peace during the iugural event. The event arranged by Major Aniruddha Bhuyan, Commanding Officer of 5 Assam Battalion of NCC, was buoyed with yoga art presentation by an NCC female cadet Mashi Bora, from Dhemaji.

“My aim is to bring out the hidden talents of the north-eastern region and give them the stage to show the world the capabilities of these young kids during my tenure here,” Major Bhuyan stated. Biplab Bhattacharya, a Yoga Guru from Biswath Chariali showcased the art of yoga before the NCC cadets in the Chariali centre. The yoga programme concluded with distribution of refreshments and carrying out of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan in the premises.

At Tezpur College the day was held under the aegis of the district administration and in association with the District Health Society and supported by Patanjali Yoga Samitte and Bharat Swabhiman. Noted yoga teacher Pradip Barthakur showed different yoga postures and it was participated by Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner, Laya Maddur, ADC, Tripurendra Pator, CEO, DRDA, Sonitpur, Munin Sharma, Joint Director, Health, Dr. Juri Bhattacharya, Inspector of Schools, SDC, Tezpur, Anishur Rahman Chowdhury, DEEO, Sonitpur, Buli Bhuyan Gogoi, among others. The day was also observed at Vivekanda Kendra, leswar Than and Madhab Dhaam.
