Shillong, May 7: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday said loss of the Congress in the adjourned poll to the Williamnagar constituency would also have an impact in the Ampati by-election. The by-poll to the Ampati seat, which was vacated by former Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, will be held on May 28. Speaking to media persons after the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected Williamnagar legislator Marcuise N Marak, Conrad said that the Williamnagar result had showed that the people had reposed their faith in the present dispensation led by the National People’s Party (NPP). “It’s a clear indication that people are looking for a change,” the Chief Minister said. He also said that the party would go for the by-election with a positive mindset. “Each election is different and every constituency has got its own character and challenges,” Sangma said.  When asked whether former Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma was losing ground in Garo Hills, Conrad refused to comment on it. “I’m nobody to comment on that as it is for the people to decide. The people have reposed their faith in us and it’s our duty to carry that forward,” he added.
