Aadhaar Card Enrolment

From A Reporter

SHILLONG, Oct 30: Around 200 people submitted their letters at the office of Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) here on Monday in connection with the “opt out” campaign launched by the Meghalaya People Committee on Aadhaar (MPCA) earlier this month.

The people have urged in their letters to delete any demographic, biometric, authentication records and any other information from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) database.

“As there have been a number of requests, we have decided to extend the submission of the letters to opt out from Aadhaar enrolment till 3rd November,” MPCA secretary Augusta Jyrwa said.

He said the last date for submission of letters is on 2nd November for South West and West Khasi Hills districts, while people in South West Khasi Hills district can submit their applications at the KSU office located at Mawkyrwat.

He, however, said that for Nongstoin the location of submitting the letters is yet to be filized.

Jyrwa further said a delegation from Garo Hills had also met the members of MPCA in Shillong to seek clarification on the merits and demerits of Aadhaar card.
