People 'Run for Unity' in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, Nov 1: To pay tribute to the ‘Iron Man of India’, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary, hundreds of people from different walks of life, including school students, took part in the ‘Run for Unity’ event in Sivasagar  on Tuesday. Organized by the Sivasagar district administration, the run, which is celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Divas, began from the DC’s office. Deputy Commissioner rayan Konwar, Superintendent of Police Subodh Sonowal, ADC Aswini Kumar Doley, ASP Zakir Hussain, staff of zarat Branch of DC’s office, officials of different government departments and school students were present in the run.

Addressing a gathering before the rally, Deputy Commissioner rayan Konwar talked about the contribution made by Sardar Patel and urged people to follow the ideals of the great leader. “This day is celebrated tionwide to spread the message of unity and brotherhood among fellow countrymen. Sardar Patel helmed the process of uniting India and we must not forget his contribution,” said Konwar. He also administered the oath of unity to those who participated in the event.
