People urged not to believe in rumours

Donkamukam, June 14: In view of the prevailing situation in the aftermath of the mob lynching incident of two youths from Guwahati - Nilotpal Das and Abhijeet Nath at Panjuri Kacharigaon under Dokmoka Police Station - a public awareness programme was convened on Wednesday by Deputy Commissioner Devjyoti Hajarika and Superintendent of Police Inamul Hoque Mangnoo of West Karbi Anglong district where MAC of Duar-Amla constituency, Probhat Ch Taro, OC of Boithalangso, Jayanta Kakati, in-charge of Donkamukam Outpost, Hitesh Basumatary, SGBs, VDPs (Village Defence Party) and senior citizens of West Karbi Anglong were present. The programme was held at Voso Koida HS, Donkamukam.

The DC and SP of the district requested the citizens to spread the message that there were no xopadhoras (child lifters) there. “Even if any suspicious person enters your area, inform the police, the DC said. He also urged people to have full faith in the police and asked them not to take law into their hands. “Beware of rumours spreading on social media,” he said.
