Dibrugarh, July 1: “Unless those in power show the same degree of responsiveness and attention to all the citizens, regardless of their faith and ideology, there will always be backlash and unrest,” said the much revered Xatradhikar of the Shri Shri Aauniaati Xatra, Mahaprabhu Dr. Pitambar Devgoswami, in his keynote speech at a felicitation ceremony organized by the Jananeta Ramesh Chandra Baruah Memory Preservation Committee on Saturday in Dibrugarh.

The famous religious leader said that Ramesh Chandra Baruah was an empathetic person and was every bit a jananeta. He also quoted examples of some remarkable figures from the religious scriptures, projected the relevance of their values and morals in today’s world, and urged the people to overcome temptations and other vices in order to prevent the society from going astray any further.

Earlier, famed sportsperson Trailokya Nath Duwarah was feted with the Ramesh Chandra Baruah Memorial Sports Award, and celebrated musician and singer, Prashanta Kumar Bordoloi was honoured with the Ramesh Chandra Baruah Memorial Artist Award. The well-organized ceremony was graced by a host of dignitaries and leading lights of the society, including former Union Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar and MLA of Dibrugarh, Prashanta Phukan.
