People’s Party Arunachal flays BJP for its undemocratic spirit

Our Correspondent

Itanagar: The People’s Party Arunachal (PPA) has criticized the ruling BJP, particularly, party candidate Lokam Tassar and his supporters for not allowing democracy to flourish in his home district Kurung Kumey. PPA president Kahfa Bengia said that re-polling in nine polling booths of Nyapin-Koloriang Assembly constituency under Kurung Kumey district has been ordered by the Election Commission of India on April 27.

He alleged that capturing of polling booths, particularly Damin town, Taba, Nampe and Nikoriang had negated the very meaning of democracy.

When former US president Abraham Lincoln has defined it as “Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the Earth”, such unethical practices go against the very spirit of democracy, Bengia said, adding that democracy can survive only when the people are allowed to cast their franchise free and fairly.
