People's suggestion a key component of governce: CM

GUWAHATI, Sept 16: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal exhorted that his Government has taken several steps to curb price rise and maintained that the efforts will keep continuing in the coming days as well until price of essential commodities are made stable.

Expressing himself in an interactive programme with the senior citizens in the conference hall of Assam Secretariat this evening, Chief Minister Sonowal said, “Government needs some more time to gain complete control over price rise and is also indentifying the reasons responsible for price hike and working towards addressing the issue”. He said that the government needs suggestions from the people to make it even more people centric. “People have posed faith on us and it is our responsibility to work towards fulfilling the aims and aspirations of them. We are committed to provide good and accountable governce and for that, right from government to public representatives, everybody should refrain from corrupt practices. Five lakh government employees, public representatives and the people at large should contribute to an active, honest and transparent government which will be a real change in the state”, Sonowal added.

Chief Minister Sonowal said that for the government schemes to be made successful, corruption has to be checked right from the grass root level. If governce can be provided to all 3.20 crore people of Assam, the state will never remain backward. A simple principle of abstinence from corrupt practices will lead to a good governce, Sonowal asserted.  Hard labour coupled with honest should be a way to earn money and is a step towards transparent society. For bringing about social change in right perspective his government has decided to hold interactive programme with the citizens so that people can become the real stake holders for their government.

Chief Minister Sonowal said in the last 100 days in office, his government has adopted several pro-people and pro-poor schemes. The first budget that the government presented has reflected several priorities of the government including rural development and bringing the margilised sections to core of government’s agenda.

Several intellectuals including leading and senior citizens expressed their realisations on the government’s first 100 days in office. He also assured to take along all the suggestions in his government’s march towards prosperity. Vice Chairman of State Planning Board Deepak Borthakur, Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia also spoke on the occasion.
