Permanent building of IGNOU Regiol Centre iugurated

SHILLONG, Sept 27: The Governor of Meghalaya, V Shanmugathan today iugurated the permanent building of the Indira Gandhi tiol Open University, (IGNOU) Regiol Centre Shillong at NEHU, Shillong.

Speaking during the iugural function, the Governor lauded the University for providing accessible and quality education to the masses through distance education especially to the economically weaker section of the society who could not otherwise pursue higher education through conventiol education.

Stressing on the need to raise the standard of education in the country, the Governor urged the teachers to render their services with dedication, honesty and sincerity so that India can be the global educatiol hub.

Other dignitaries who attended the iuguration ceremony include Prof. S K Srivastava, Vice Chancellor of NEHU, Prof. Ravindra Kumar, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU, R G Lyngdoh, Vice Chancellor, MLCU, M S Rao, Principal Secretary to the Governor, D P Wahlang, Commissioner and Secretary, Education Department, Dr. V Venugopal Reddy, Director Regiol Services Division, IGNOU, New Delhi and Dr. A S Guha, Regiol Director, IGNOU, Regiol Centre, Shillong among others.
