Petrol-diesel depot bandh in Darrang district

MANGALDAI, March 30: Darrang District Petroleum Workers’ Union in protest against the brutal killing of Manoj Patel, an employee of Shell Depot at Aulachowka (Borjamguri) on March 27 has called for a 24-hour petrol and diesel depot bandh in Darrang district on April 1. However, during the bandh, petrol and diesel will be provided as essential services. The Darrang District Petroleum Dealers Association has also strongly condemned the killing of the employee and submitted a memorandum to Darrang Deputy Commissioner and demanded to ensure the safety and security of the employees of the petrol and diesel depots in Darrang.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police SN Singh on MOnday visited Mangaldai and attended a meeting with the senior officials of the district administration and police and reviewed the law-and-order situation of the district. However he avoided the media persons here.
