“Earlier, it would be the health of the pet that come more as a matter of concern and would be adjudged in such shows. But not anymore, as now judges also observe the dress and the accessories the participating pet wear," He added.

Personalized collars are a rage with animal lovers. These contain the name of the pet either written with sparkling stones or embossed on metal. Depending on the design and the make of the collars, prices vary.

Leading pet shops in the city offer such designer collars on demand. Although, the delivery or these collars might need some time as they are imported from places like Bangalore and Kolkata, these stylish collars are worth some wait. Some collars are also accompanied by attractive buckles that would make your female pet look like a beautiful diva and your male pet charming prince.

“These dog collars and accessories range somewhere between Rs. 300 and Rs 3,000," adds Biju. Brands like Kennel and Smarty Pet have been offering these products for the pet enthusiasts all across the country.

“Apart from branded companies like Kennel or Smarty Pet, many lesser known brands from Kolkata. Bangalore and Delhi also produce these fancy accessories for pets, which cost slightly lower than the branded ones," Biju adds further,

Another fashionable accessory that is in huge demand during pet shows are colourful bows that are wrapped along with the dog collar. For your female pets, the bows also come in attractive colours and patterns.

For larger breeds like Doberman and German Shepherd, steel studded large sized collars are more in demand as they provide a macho look to these big canines.

Pets World, another Guwahati based pet shop caters to the requirements of pet lovers who apart from stylish collars and bows, also come looking for aquariums and accessories to enhance the decoration.

Fancy accessories like oxygen pumps or many kind colourful aquarium tones of all colour and shapes are being sold which are in high in demand. People also prefer these to enhance their home interiors as they add the extra bit of taste and style.

“People now prefer theme-based aquariums. Accessories and items based on particular themes are also available in leading pet stores including us,” said the sales manager of Pets World.

Pet grooming industry is also booming in Guwahati as certain pet parlours are offering the best-in-class pampering and everything that your beloved pet needs to grab attention on streets as well as shows.
