He said that in this time of globalization, when people can get information of the world within few seconds through internet, nobody could be flattered by using the local sentiment. “Nowadays, people just want development which I will bring to Bongaigaon if I win. And Phani Bhusan Choudhury will be my main opponent,” said the former AASU president and newly-joined Congress leader.

Total six candidates, including Phani Bhusan Choudhury from AGP-BJP alliance, Sankar Prasad Rai from Congress, Fulbar Ali Molla from Rastriya Jakranti Party and three independent candidates mely Dr Itesh Bardoloi, Pravata Baishb and Dhirabati Choudhury submitted nomition for Bongaigaon constituency.

Dr Itesh Bardoloi said that Phani Bhusan Choudhury did many things for Bongaigaon. “I respect him very much but this is the time for the new generation to come out and do something better than what he did. He failed in systematic development of Bongaigaon. In sectors like health, education and agriculture he could have done much more. My ambition is to develop all these sectors of Bongaigaon in a systematic way so that people of Bongaigaon can get good service in these sectors, and also to solve the unemployment problem,” Dr Bardoloi said.

Phani Bhusan Choudhury, who is the MLA of this constituency since the last 30 years, submitted his nomition papers on Monday along with a huge crowd of supporters. “I know the people of Bongaigaon and they will judge what I have done for Bongaigaon in the last 30 years. I know I will win this time also with a huge margin,” Choudhury said.
