Phase II of Gunotsav gets underway

JOYSAGAR/TINSUKIA/TANGLA, Oct 10: Gunotsav Phase II of the State Education Department formally started in Sivasagar district from Tuesday. A total of 1,415 Government LP and ME Schools are included for evaluation by the selected experts from Assam Sarva Siksha Abhiyan and Sivasagar district Education Department in association with the district administration.

Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner N. Konwar formally iugurated Gunotsav Phase-II in Sivasagar district. District Elementary Education Officer A. Jelil elaborated the aims and objectives of Gunotsav Phase-II and hoped that such steps for betterment of teaching and learning process would improve the government educatiol institutions.

The Deputy Commissioner sought help from all officials concerned to reach the actual goal and he also appealed to the parents and guardians to help teachers find the drawbacks of their children in studies so that special attention could be given to such pupils. The Deputy Commissioner persolly visited at least eight LP and ME schools near Sivasagar town and conducted some evolution procedure in these schools.

Aimed to identify learning gaps and to design effective strategies to meet these gaps, the second phase of Gunotsav got underway at Tinsukia district along with 11 other districts of Assam. The four-day massive exercise that began on Tuesday will continue till October 13. While the self-assessment will be conducted by the school itself on the first day, the exterl assessment will be done by faculties of educatiol institutions, senior government officials and MLAs of the district, said Partha Pratim Boiragi ADC, at a press meet at DC conference hall on Monday.

In Tinsukia district, a total of 492 exterl evaluators have been appointed with 107 and 1,445 persons as liaison officers and nodal teacher respectively. The senior government officials who would act as exterl evaluators are S Ahmed CCF FC, Rubi Borah, secretary, Environment and Forest, Prasanta Kr Dutta, AIGP, Utpal Bora CCF(Hq) and SK Srivastava PCCF(T).

The total number of schools to be covered in Tinsukia district is 1445, while total number of students to be evaluated through Gunotsav will be 1,20,117. The assessment will be done primarily in four areas like scholastic, co-scholastic activities, availability and utilization of school infrastructure and resources and community participation.

The  second  phase of Gunotsav got underway in Udalguri  district  from Tuesday with three day hectic schedule. The  Inspector of  Schools of Udalguri Bhaben Deuri  informing this correspondent said that a total of 1,402 lower primary and upper primary schools and composite schools of the district would  go  under  the exterl  evaluation during  the three day programme.  He also informed that the education department of the  state government appointed three exterl evaluators to observe and evaluate some 15 schools from  among the schools and the guest evaluators have already arrived at  Udalguri for the purpose .  It is pertinent to be mentioned that the concerned schools have already performed interl assessment today as per the guidelines  of the Gunotsav .
