PHE water plant's foundation stone laid

SILCHAR, Aug 26: Rajdeep Goala, MLA Lakhipur, laid the foundation stone of PHE water plant in a ceremony organized by the department held at Dewan tea estate under Lakhipur sub-division on Friday. An amount of Rs.1 crore has been sanctioned for the project under the Chief Minister’s special package. A meeting was also held on the occasion which was presided over by T T D Daulagopu, SDO (Civil). Speaking on the occasion Rajdeep Goala said that after completion of the project, people residing within the 7 km radius of the water plant will benefit from it. He also said that Rs.10 lakh has been sanctioned for development and upgradation of Dewan football field.

 He also said in order to develop the rural economy, the state government has initiated many new welfare projects. He cited an example of mosquito nets which have already been distributed among the BPL families. He added to say that during winter season blankets will also be distributed among people who come under BPL category. Megha Das, SDO (PHE), Deepak Das, executive engineer of the department, Pradip Kumar Dey, ZPC member, Hareswar Dhobi, chairman of SC board, Khirod Karmakar, Dulan Ree and Kameswar Tanti were among those present on the occasion.

 Later, Goala also attended a programme of ARPET in the premises of community hall at Pailapool and held a meeting with the department officials. In the programme, Goala handed over cheques of Rs.6000 each to 29 self help groups of the sub-division. Nityanda Debth, in charge of the department, informed that a CFC office will soon be constructed on a 2 bigha plot of land in the area for which a grant of Rs.20 lakh has already been sanctioned. R K Sahal Singh, president of Manipuri Development Council, Rabindra Singh and Manimohan Singh were among those present in the programme.
