Phensedyl seized

Shillong, Nov 17: Border Security Force (BSF) personnel seized a huge quantity of illegal Phensedyl bottles destined for Bangladesh during a joint operation with sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).  Acting o a tip-off, a joint operation was launched by the teams of BSF and DRI in which a truck (WB-41K 2397) was intercepted near Abattoir, Mawiong, sources said. After thorough checking of the truck, an illegal consignment of Phensedyl cough syrup was recovered. To the surprise of the agencies, 70 cartons were concealed with bags of rice in the truck.  Each carton contained 300 bottles of Phensedyl and overall 21,000 bottles of illegal cough syrup worth more than Rs 26.7 lakh were seized by men of both the government agencies.

The joint team also apprehended two persons with the truck.
