TANGLA, Dec 25: With the onset of winter, Bhairabkunda, the picturesque triangular junction of Assam, Aruchal Pradesh and Bhutan and one of the most sought after picnic spots of the State is teeming with picnickers from districts like Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Tinsukia, Golaghat, Karbi-Anglong, Kokrajhar, Baksa and gaon visiting the place.
Talking to this correspondent, a member of the picnic spot magement committee informed that till December 24, a total of 915 picnic parties visited Bhairabkunda for picnic. “It is a good sign for us to earn a few bucks as we eagerly wait for this season and all the petty shops of the locality are happy to welcome the picnickers,” he added.
Compared to last year’s total visit, picnic parties from various districts have sharply increased in Bhairabkunda this time and it is hoped that by the end of January, there will be more than 2,000 picnic parties, making a record for the first time.
The picnic spot magement committee at Bhairabkunda has taken a task to beautify the riverbank by launching cleanliness drive every day and have drawn images of wild animals on the giant rocks in and around the picnic spots to attract the visitors. Interestingly enough, many small four-wheelers and bike riders opted for Bhairabkunda for another clear another reason – low fuel prices in neighbouring Daifam town of Bhutan where petrol is sold at an average price of Rs 51 per litre.
Meanwhile, the police administration of the district too informed that there had been no untoward incident till date and peaceful atmosphere prevails in and around Bhairabkunda.
