Plant saplings, Darrang DC urges people

MANGALDAI, July 1: Deputy Commissioner of Darrang, Ashok Kumar Barman has appealed to all families of the district to plant at least one sapling and take responsibility for its growth on the occasion of the week-long celebration of Va Mahotsav-2017.

He was iugurating the festival in the district by planting a sapling of Ezar at the premises of the Paschim Mangaldai Kristi Bikash Kendra here at Bhebarghat on Saturday in presence of Gurujyoti Das , MLA, Mangaldai , Pratap Bordoloi , chairman , Municipal Board ,  Manimala Gogoi , DIPRO, Darrang and distinguished local citizens and office bearers of the socio-cultural organization. 

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the observation of the scientists as to how after 400-500 years due to global warming the earth would not remain conducive for mankind to survive and this could be prevented only through massive plantation. Earlier, in a public meeting  held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Friday, a detailed day-wise schedule for celebration of the week-long programme was filized.
