Plea to abide by model code of conduct

Itagar, Oct 31: The DEO cum Returning Officer of Anjaw district Mamata Riba has appealed to all political parties to abide by the election code of conduct.

Hayuliang constituency, the lone constituency in the district is all set for the Bye poll on November 19 next as sitting MLA and former chief minister Kalikho Pul had commit suicide on August 9 this year.

The DEO instructed all sector magistrates, ka in-charge, Static Surveillance Team (SST) Nodal Officers to carry out their duties and responsibilities as per directives of Election Commission of India. The violation of MCC would not be spared and suitable action will be initiated as per guidelines of election laws and other legal provisions.

She cautioned all the officers and officials posted under Anjaw district to report back immediately, an official release informed here today.

Flying Squad teams and Static Surveillance Teams have been deployed in entire Anjaw district at different strategic locations and sectors.

Meanwhile, COs A Ratan and Tami Taga along with security team carried out unnounced checking drive in Hayuliang, Swami Camp and Khuppa areas and seized several cases of beer and IMFL from illegal possession of some shopkeepers and wayside hotels, the release added.
