Plea to train educated youths in use of agriculture technical tools

HAMREN, Dec 8: The 7th foundation day of Karbi Farmers’ Association (KFA) was held recently at separate places by both the KFA factions led by Samsing Hanse and Rajesh Tisso. The KFA led by Samsing Hanse observed the 7th foundation day at Dengoan playground and KFA Rajesh group observed the 7th foundation day at Joising Doloi Auditorium Hall, Diphu, where EM Amorsing Tisso attended as chief guest along with MAC Ramsing Timung , social worker Saising Rongpi and other dignitaries.

EM Amorsing Tisso said that the KAAC had taken various development activities like distributing different agricultural tools to the rural farmers and providing subsidies of tractors and power tillers to beneficiaries through the Agriculture Department. More than 80 per cent of the rural people of Karbi Anglong depend on agriculture. Therefore, the KAAC gives more stress to promote agriculture activities by conducting training programmes and distributing free seeds and others tools to the farmers, said EM Tisso.

The association handed over a memorandum to EM Amorsing Tisso stating that the KAAC should take the initiative to train the educated youths in modern technique of agricultural skills and the use of technical tools for agriculture. EM Tisso assured that the KAAC would provide all possible assistance to the BPL and margil farmers. The association also demanded setting up of agricultural university in the district. They also urged the KAAC authority to arrange marketing and exporting process for the farmers as well as construction of cool storage in different locations in the district.
