PM Modi Attends Maldives’ New President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s Oath-taking Ceremony

Guwahati: Maldives' President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is to swear-in as the new president of the island nation and this grand occasion of the country will also be attended by the prime minister of India Narendra Modi. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to be held on Saturday and as scheduled, PM Modi has reached the country.

The Indian PM took to Facebook to express his pleasure of visiting the Maldives. He wrote, "I am delighted to visit Male, the capital of the Republic of Maldives, our close and friendly neighbour, to attend the historic Inauguration Ceremony of President-elect H.E. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih." There are further messages containing congratulatory notes for the new president of the nation. Adding his remark on the election of the new president through the elections held in the Maldives recently, Modi said, "represents the collective aspirations of the people of the Republic of the Maldives for democracy, rule of law and a prosperous future".

Modi further posted, "India and Maldives share a strong partnership rooted in history, strong bonds between our peoples, and their shared aspiration for peace and prosperity. My Government's vision of inclusive development 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas' extends to all our neighbours too. We in India strongly desire to see a democratic, prosperous and peaceful Republic of Maldives."
