New Delhi, August 30: Prime Minister rendra Modi on Sunday paid tributes to all those who played a role in India’s victory in the 1965 war against Pakistan, then prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri included. “Whenever the 1965 war is mentioned, it is tural to remember Lal Bahadur Shastriji,” he said in his radio address Mann Ki Baat. “It is also tural to remember his ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ (slogan). “It is tural to remember the martyrs who held the tricolour high. I salute all who were related to the victory... I salute all bravehearts,” he said. Modi added: “Such historic incidents always inspire us.” India began nearly a month-long commemoration of the 1965 war on August 28, the day India captured Hajipir Pass five decades back. (IANS)
