PM's public chat on Viber biggest in India

New Delhi, March 17: Viber, a global mobile messaging and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) company, said on Tuesday that Prime Minister rendra Modi’s Public Chat on the app has become the biggest till date in India. Modi joined Viber public chat on January 26, 2015, on the occasion of Republic Day. Within weeks, the prime minister got more than 8.5 lakh followers on Viber, the company said in a press release. This is the first ever presence of the prime minister - who is tech savvy and remains connected with fans and people through social media - on an instant messaging app. Viber, which has 37 million Indian users, offers free messaging and HD-quality calls and more than 50 public chats.
