PN Syiem betrayed 'jaidbynriew': CM

Shillong, Nov 8: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma today said that suspended Congress legislator and Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) chief Pynshngain N Syiem has betrayed the “jaidbynriew” by not making amendments to the Village Administration Bill (VAB). Speaking to media persons on Tuesday, Dr Sangma reiterated that had Syiem listened to his suggestion to recall the VAB, it would have been given assent by the Governor. The Chief Minister had suggested the KHADC to recall the VAB to exclude certain clauses which may come in conflict with the laws of the Parliament. Coming down heavily on the KHADC chief, Dr Sangma said,  “The VAB has to be an appropriate one as constitutiol and legal matters will have to be taken into consideration.” Drawing reference the Chief Minister said that the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security (MRSS) Bill which has been assented to by the Governor after there was long drawn exercise of legal matters.
