Poacher arrested with arms at Choraikhola Wild life Sanctuary

KOKRAJHAR February 25: A poacher identified as Bimal Marak was apprehended from Haldibari area of Chakrachila wildlife Sanctuary in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday.

Amio Kr Brahma, Range Officer of the Chakrachila Wildlife Sanctuary said that Marak was apprehended in a joint operation with the help of Daoka Raja NGO. He was arrested with three country-made guns while another poacher Satap Sangma maged to escape in the dense forest. He said that it was successful operation for the department against the poachers in the region.

Mahesh Chandra Barman, worker of the Daoka Raja NGO said that their NGO hads been helping the wildlife department for the greater interest of conserving forest and to save forest resources. Meanwhile, Bimal Marak, the arrested poacher said that he was called by Satap Sangma for hunting in the forest but was apprehended by forest department officials. The forest officials recovered three country-made guns and 20 rounds live ammunitions from his possession.
