MANGALDAI, February 20: The prompt initiative of the staff of Orang tiol Park (ONP) on Sunday averted a major poaching attempt inside the Park.

According to the Divisiol Forest Officer of Mangaldai Wildlife division, Sunnydeo Choudhary, a group of poachers sneaked into the park and the forest staff during patrolling on elephant noticed the poachers filling the water can and immediately opened fire at them. But the organized gang of poachers maged to flee away from the spot leaving a pair of shoes and water canister on the spot. The forest staff with the help of sniffer dog from SSB conducted a search operation in the entire area which was later joined by the CoBRA battalion of CRPF and Army.

However, in the midnight at about 12.30 am, the staff saw three of the poachers escaping from the Park territory by swimming. Though the staff again fired at the poachers, taking advantage of the darkness, the poachers maged to escape.
