Jaipur, February 11: Rajasthan Police on Wednesday announced a reward of Rs.1 lakh to any person providing information leading to the arrest of the accused in the rape of a Japanese woman tourist. The 20-year-old Japanese tourist had on Monday filed a police complaint in Dudu, over 60 km from here, accusing a man of raping her. “The incident occurred on Sunday night. The tourist was on a sightseeing tour in Jaipur when a person on a motorbike approached her and offered his services as a guide. The man took her to certain areas and later to a secluded place where, according to her, he raped her,” Inspector General of Police (Jaipur range) D.C. Jain said. She later reached a police station in Dudu and filed a complaint.

“We are on the lookout for the main accused — identified as 24-year-old Ajit Singh Chaudhary alias Jeetram — who is presently absconding,” Jain said. Police Tuesday arrested seven people, including friends and relatives of the main accused, on charges of abetment to crime. Police teams have been sent to many areas in search of the accused, he said. “We are seeking help from the public to help find the accused. We will give a reward of Rs.1 lakh to any person who helps us in arresting or providing information about his whereabouts,” he said. (IANS)
